What We’re Thankful For

Here at Sisterhood, we have a lot to be thankful for. We’re thankful for the West Side Community House, for everyone who supports the Sisterhood program and for being able to come together every week to laugh and uplift each other.

We asked each of the girls to tell us what they were thankful for and here are their responses:

I’m thankful for being able to live another day in this environment. I’m glad I have two living, loving parents who cherish me. I’m thankful for friends that look out for me and know ways to make me smile when I have a frown. I’m thankful for a program that allows me to express myself freely. I’m thankful for the opportunities I am given.

Well, I am thankful to have an amazing family. I am thankful to be part of my family because they treat me with a lot of love and care. Also, I give them love and care back. I’m also thankful for being in Sisterhood. Sisterhood is like my family.

I’m thankful for my parents because many kids don’t have their mom or dad. I’m thankful for the clothes I have because some don’t have anything to wear, especially when it’s cold. I’m thankful for a house to live in because there are many who are homeless. I’m also thankful for food to eat because many are starving.

I’m thankful for my mom because without her I wouldn’t be this far in life. I wouldn’t be who I am now. Because of her, I’m changing for the better. She’s my biggest supporter.
